Part of what I do is teach watercolor painting and this week, after being rained out for about 4 weeks, we finally got a class out and painting in Chatham! The skies were spectacular and made for a challenging day of sketching and painting.
Some pretty idyllic moments for painting......
We saw quite a few seals swimming around and of course all the fishing boats reminded us of the ways people have traditionally survived and made their livings here for hundreds of years.
A storm had moved out early in the morning but the clouds were not done with the Cape quite yet. It made for some spectacular views and light.
Water lilies always make great subjects.
This young lady is exploring all sorts of marine goodies we dragged up in a net.
A frog had left the pond and was hanging out under the bushes in the shade so this artist got right down on the ground to draw it.

Jack-in-the-Pulpits are not uncommon but they are often overlooked because they are so well hidden beneath the big umbrella like leaves that shade them. They may be mostly gone by now. Unfortunately their big bloom time was during all the rain.
Bullfrogs don's mind a bit of rain. They don't mind a lot of rain either, especially if there are frequent enough breaks for flying insects to be up and around. Bullfrogs aren't picky eaters, though and will eat just about anything that moves if they can fit it into their mouths, even other frogs.
The omni present and ivasive multiflora rose has just about finished blooming along all our roadsides.
